On the 24th, the EU's High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, met with Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati and Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, Nabih Berri, in Beirut, the capital of Lebanon.
Borrell announced that the EU would provide €200 million in assistance to support the Lebanese army. He emphasized that the ongoing events pose a significant test for the international community, as lives are being lost in bombings, and the international community cannot stand by idly. Borrell also called for an immediate ceasefire and the swift implementation of United Nations Resolution 1701.
